1.) Is there something that you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?
There are so many things I want to do, but building a better immigration system is my life’s goal.
2.) how did you meet your best friends?
In High school. We all played polo and became inseparable our freshman year. Those guys are the brothers I never had and those friendships will last for the rest of my life.
3.) If you could wave a wand and change one thing, what would it be?
I’d get rid of all the paparazzi in LA.
4.) how do you view parenthood, is it something you’d like to try one day?
I want kids, but hope to make a better world for them first.

As someone who gave a shit and used his privilege and power to leave the world better than I found it.

1.) When you were a child, what was one thing you could always be sure of?
My books and my own writing. I believed what I could see.
2.) Is there something you are particularly attached to, or particularly repelled by, in this place?
I love my home - because it’s mine. Everything in it is something I picked. I’ve never had that before. So I guess I’d say I’m attached to it all.
3.) Is this what you always planned to do, or did you fall into it?
I planned to write a book and try to sell it to a publisher. I never could have imagined the success of Throw away the key and how it would make my passion a career.
4.) How do you deal with stress?
I do yoga and write. They both allow me to step outside of myself and help me release my tension, fear, anxiety or whatever I’m feeling and give me perspective.
5. ) What keeps you awake at night?
Knowing that I live in a country that is the only home I know, but that sees me as “alien.” I didn’t choose to live here, but I’ve tried my best to be a good citizen, to contribute, to help people who I can, and hope that one day, I can receive the love I feel for America in equal measure.
